This job isn't for everyone ...
As many of you already know, we are growing. But how many of you know our story? Let's start with a little background.
Chip Magnet Salsa started in the kitchen of our house back in 2011. We made the salsa out of our home and sold it at outdoor markets until June, 2012, when we got licensed. This opened up a world of opportunity. So many things changed. Up until this point, it was just us. My husband Jim, and myself, doing everything. That is how a small business usually starts, right? I made salsa all day, Jim worked at his "real job" all day, and then came home and helped me with whatever needed to be done. I hand wrote our first labels. Ridiculous. (for even more in-depth background, read my other blogs)
When June 2012 rolled around, things changed. We could now legally put our salsa on the shelves of stores. We were doing 15 outdoor markets a week. We needed help. This is when our search for employees started. We have had some really great employees over the years, and the opposite of that.
We have come a long way and we are, once again, looking for people to become part of our team.
We are in need of a person to work our production line and prep veggies. The job starts at 5am, Monday-Friday. If you cannot start at 5am, Monday-Friday, please don't bother applying. You will be wasting your time, and ours.
We are a hard working, quirky, fun group of people. We tell jokes (although we can't promise they are always funny) and laugh, and play all kinds of music. Production is a fast-paced whirlwind of activity, and it gets crazy some days. There are tense moments, and OMG moments, and "what the hell do we do now" moments. Sometimes there is yelling and not so nice words. But there are always words of encouragement, praise, and "how do we make this better" brainstorms that follow.
We are extremely demanding because we are making food that other people eat. Corners are not cut. Ever.
It is loud, so prepare to wear ear plugs. If you think you're too cool to wear ugly non-slip shoes, a hair net, goggles, and a white lab coat-ish thingy, stop reading now.
We are in the middle of implementing the highest standard of food safety and quality there is, so be prepared for rules and regulations to change as we go.
We will give you a safe work environment, an amazing team, a good wage, weekends and holidays off, and enormous room for growth.
The ideal candidate will possess exemplary communication skills, and be able to work both as part of a team, and independently. They will be reliable, willing to learn every aspect of our production, and able to scan a room to see what needs to be done, both during production and during down time. They will have a good attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond the Call of Duty®. They will have the ability to do things without being told. They will be in it for the long haul. They will be able to roll with the punches. They will want to be part of something really special. Is this you? Prove it.
